New I-93 Ramp Location, More Lane Closures Coming

More night roadwork is coming to perform various portions of the Interstate 93 overhaul in Salem.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces night work associated with the construction of the new I-93 Exit 2 Interchange in Salem.

Weather permitting; temporary realignment of Interstate 93 southbound will take place on the night of Thursday, October 24, 2013. This work will take place during non-commuter hours, from approximately 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. Upon completion of the pavement striping operation, southbound traffic will be realigned to use the new temporary bridge. Motorists utilizing the exit 2 southbound off-ramp will also have a new off-ramp location further to the north of the existing location.

Construction operations will require traffic on I-93 southbound to be reduced to one lane utilizing a lane closure. Motorist should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.

This work is part of the $41 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 2.  The general contractor is George R. Cairns & Sons, Inc. from Windham, NH.
