'What Difference, at this Point, Does it Make?'

“What difference, at this point, does it make?”, was shouted this past week from the naturally delightful, demure, and unquestionably feminine Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during a congressional hearing in response to a question of whether or not the administration’s immediate response to the 9/11/2012 Benghazi killings was misleading by saying the attack was “sparked” by a video – as the administration claimed at the time, to be sure, you know, to not shoot first and aim later.

Many things can be said of the Madam Secretary, but one thing is certain: she’s a highly skilled political pilot that can drop most opponents into a tailspin during a dogfight. She’s been in the political theatre most of her life and not simply survived, but thrived. Yes, there was that little setback back in 2008 when the preferred skin color constituency trumped the preferred genitalia constituency in winning the “group” of the year during the primary election. But hey, that’s over with. Live by rewarding preferred groups by their epiphenomenal traits, die by rewarding preferred groups by their epiphenomenal traits; merit and character be damned. That’s the way it goes in Libtardia, and she knows that. Heck, she’s fought for it. This next time, it’s the genitalia constituency for sure, unless, of course, the hair plug loser constituency makes a big push for being the preferred group, then it’s game on for the Madam. But I digress.

The Secretary has honed an instinct to smell out political situations like Michael Moore sizing up a bakery, or a publicly funded transportation planner sizing up the taxpayer rubes when he blogs during work hours so they don’t notice, or a newly-elected, excrescently mottled representative sizing up her constituency to be sure to only insult those who disagree with her with the ever clever “moron” retort. Remember how Madam Secretary was noticeably absent before she was hospitalized, and also nowhere to be found on the following Sunday’s talk shows, just after our embassy was stormed and our ambassador killed? The U.N. Ambassador stepped in for her (and stepped in it) and did the interviews.

When asked about this during the “questioning” this past week, the Madam Secretary responded by saying, “There are other things I prefer to do on Sunday mornings.” The Benghazi attack was the biggest event to affect the Department of State during her tenure as Secretary and her response is essentially, “Ah, on Sunday mornings, I prefer to get a cup of Joe, read the New York Times, and lollygag in my PJs until 10:00 or so, then maybe saunter out for a bit.” Do you believe that? I don’t. Like I said, she’s a political survivor, not because she can, but because she must. If the State department came out in a favorable light, do you doubt that she would appear on those shows? Me neither. She smelled the “gate” about to be appended to Benghazi and steered clear. Smart move. B.O. would have sandbagged her.

Unwittingly, or perhaps wittingly, she exposed the motto of the Obama administration, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” It is simultaneously the fallback riposte to anything that imposes an inconvenient sense of responsibility, as demonstrated by the Madam Secretary’s I’ll-say-I-take-responsibility-but-I’ll-be-a-no-show-for-really-taking-responsibility, and also the recognition that we’re too far gone to correct anything now, so just pretend that we’re okay and get on with it.

So when a policy by this administration seems bewildering, think of it in the context of the motto. It’ll help provide insight into what they’re thinking. For example, on the reluctance of B.O. to stem the endless spending. B.O. already amassed $1,000,000,000,000 a year deficits for four year and nearly $6,000,000,000,000 of new debt in a single term. Why fix it now? What difference, at this point, does it make?

See, what I mean? It’s no longer perplexing, he’s just saying f-it. Thank Hillary for helping you have a deeper understanding of this administrations derelictions. Then again we’re stuck for another four years, what difference, at this point, does it make?

Did the killings come about because of a protest by hardcore Libyan terrorists “or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans?” Clinton asked rhetorically, her voice rising in exasperation. “What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator.”

That is how a Secretary of State takes care of a crisis. None of this childish Con finger pointing.

Terrible performance. You would not expect that from the Secretary of State. Just no justification for her reaction. Where was all that concern for our men and women serving in embassies and consulates across the globe when all the other attacks and killings occurred?
Like in 2002 when the US Consulate in the Karachi, Pakistan, was attacked and 10 were killed?
Or in 2004 when the US embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and two were killed and another nine injured?
How about in 2004, when the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia was stormed and 8 lost their lives?
There is more: In 2006, armed men attacked the US Embassy in Syria and one was murdered.
Then in 2007 a grenade was thrown at the US Embassy in Athens.
In 2008, the US Embassy in Serbia was set on fire.
In 2008, bombings in the US Embassy in Yemen killed 10.
Notice the dates, all before the Obama administration.

Under Bush a dozen embassies were attacked and several dozen people killed. Under Reagan the marine barracks in Lebanon attacked with hundreds killed. We just had the "Arab spring" and arms are flowing all over Africa, it's amazing it hasn't been worse. Benghazi was a CIA outpost and the blame cannot all go to Hillary and the state dept. Petraeus has a lot to answer for as well. Many of the congressmen and senators who questioned Hillary like Ron Johnson and rand Paul and John McCain didn't even attend the Benghazi briefings. They were only interested in political grandstanding, and it backfired.

I am amazed that there is a comparison to the many prior attacks and why people are outraged about Benghazi.
So no one read the memo regarding the eminent threats.
No one acknowledged to request for more security because the republicans wanted budget cuts.
And the lie that was spun around the world made no difference.
I wish Hilary had that thought process during the watergate hearings
