I see the opinion press is full of “thank you” notes to NH’s junior Senator.
She is being thanked for her votes against this thing and that, like aid to those hardest hit by hurricane Sandy.
As we approach the ridiculous “sequestration” that will mess up our economy, I’d like to point out that Sen. Kelly Ayotte has played a major (if scripted) leadership role in making that happen.
I know many of my neighbors in the Upper Valley got banged up in the economic downturn left by the Bush Administration. Those folks are about to get clobbered again because the Republicans demand such devastating cuts, and no increase in taxes on the well-to-do. Republican economic policy is frankly criminal.
Sen. Ayotte has also hitched her star to the “Benghazi Brigade," the group of Republican Senators that now proposes to tie up the President’s appointments to critical national security positions.
For her behavior I feel neither gratitude nor respect.

Does the Patch publish any drivel-laden article that someone is willing to put there name on?
The Sandy Bill was anything but a relief to those hardest hit! it is more pork spending and waste.
Sequestration was the product of the White House!
The administration did increase taxes on the "well to do!"
Benghazi is a deplorable situation and the administration should stop stone-walling because it does make a difference as to what transpired there!
She may not be Hillary Clinton and we can al be grateful for that!

You're wildly misinformed. We have the Republicans to thank for the approaching sequestration.
"It started with the 2011 standoff over the U.S. debt ceiling, when Republicans in Congress demanded spending cuts in exchange for giving the Obama administration the needed legal headroom to pay the federal government's obligations to its bondholders." http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/06/politics/cnn-explains-sequestration

"The battle over raising the debt ceiling consumed Washington in the summer of 2011, with Republicans refusing to agree to raise it unless spending was cut by an equivalent amount."
THAT is what started it all. The GOP playing chicken with the economy.
Raising the debt limit is routinely done. Regan did it 18 times. Dubya did it 7 times.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/jul/26/barack-obama/obama-says-reagan-raised-debt-ceiling-18-times-geo/
Raising the debt limit allows the country to pay the bills CONGRESS ALREADY ran up.
If the GOP hadn't been playing stupid games with our economy and credit rating for political gain, we wouldn't even be discussing sequestration now.

@David,
Ooh, a little parry and thrust...yet done so in quite an adult fashion! (very refreshing-well done!)
I should be with my sweetheart in front of the fire, but...
I agree, the debt ceiling limit HAS been raised before, albeit far too many times that it has become kneejerk.
It has become too routine and at some point, it endangers our credit rating:
http://reason.com/blog/2013/01/17/weve-raised-the-debt-limit-many-times-be
If you look at the presidents first budget, mostly W's fault but partially Obama's as well, there was a large increase. While the president hasn't grown it by much, he has done little to decrease it.
problem is, tax revenues are down and therein lies the problem.
I can't blame the president for what he inherited, but he hasn't done much in the way of improving the situation either...
I think it politically convenient to blame Repuplicans for allowing the president's proposed sequestration option when they were trying to be somewhat fiscally responsible!

Sonia,
I am not a Fox News junkie. Actually, I don't spend too much time with television news, unless there is some sort of "high news event" being covered.
I prefer a combination of sources, some print, some network/cable and some internet.
I have enjoyed some of the opinion programs on Fox (which mostly all are right leaning of course).
I find that much of the news is fair and balanced.
CNN also has a similar news presentation but I think most of their opinion pieces are "left leaning" and I would watch more for a counter-point to much of my opinions.
I cannot even stomach MSNBC for more than a few moments. Maddow, etc... they give me heartburn.
I think the best is to read from many sources and try and discern fact from rhetoric (not always easy).
David included a link that was an opinion piece, no different than if I were to include a link that was also opinion. Not all CNN stories are as such and I was merely stating a fact with regards to this one article.
The link wrongly put the notion of sequestration on the Republicans and that isn't factual, it is Democratic spin.

Like in 2002 when the US Consulate in the Karachi, Pakistan, was attacked and 10 were killed? Or in 2004 when the US embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and two were killed and another nine injured? How about in 2004, when the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia was stormed and 8 lost their lives? There is more: In 2006, armed men attacked the US Embassy in Syria and one was murdered. Then in 2007 a grenade was thrown at the US Embassy in Athens. In 2008, the US Embassy in Serbia was set on fire.In 2008, bombings in the US Embassy in Yemen killed 10. Notice the dates, all before the Obama administration.

He won by one of the slimmest margins of any incumbent president in nearly a century: about 3.6%, or just half of his 7.3% winning margin in 2008.
Anyone with any realistic sense of math (or politics) would not refer to that as a "good margin" not a political rout!
The most striking change in the results this election involved a precipitous and alarming decline in voter participation, a drop-off that stemmed from a deliberate strategy by the Obama campaign and almost certainly provided the president with his margin of victory.

Dear Aple Jack: Obama had a vote total well in excess of 62 million;Mitt Romney’s 58.8 million. The president’s popular-vote margin is excess of 3 million.Obama has won FL with a margin of 75,000 votes. That’s more than 100 times the alleged margin of victory for Bush in 2000 in that state. w FL, Obama has 332 elect votes, compared with 206 for Romney.1.Obama has won an overwhelming majority in the Electoral College,a daunting majority of the popular vote & a majority of the nation’s states—including most of the country’s largest states & states in every major region of the republic:New England, the mid-Atlantic,the Great Lakes, the South, the Southwest, the Mountain West and the West. 2.Obama has won more popular votes than any Democratic candidate for president in history—except himself in 2008. 3.Obama is the first Democratic president to win more than 50% of the popular vote in a re-election run since Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1944. 4. Obama is the only Democratic candidate for president since FDR to twice win more than 50% of the national vote. 5.Obama has,in both of his presidential runs, won a higher % of the national vote than any Democratic nominee since Lyndon Johnson in his 1964 landslide victory. Add it all up and Obama has a mandate from this year’s presidential election that is significantly greater than those afforded John Kennedy in 1960, Richard Nixon in 1968, Jimmy Carter in 1976 or George W. Bush in 2000 or 2004.

"Remember, always it is far better for Freemen and Freewomen to be able to challenge those of the opposition or oppressors with words, when you have the
advantage at that time to do so, Rather than have to face them with Arms for your
failure to do so later when they wish to invade your homeland...." [ paraphrase ].
Winston Churchill, Said during Britain's Darkest Hour during WW 2

There is way more than fear on its own to fear. I would Gladly take you and yours for a dance with the devil himself if it means that I protect my country and President from ignorant propagandist such as your self. That doesn't bother to check your facts.Thats a promise. I'm rightly pissed that all the money I put in Social Security was stolen by bought off thieving Republicans bent on destroying our country and killing off our children. You're worried about them taking your guns and forcing you to pay taxes. It's not them you need to worry about peeling your weapons from you cold dead hands. It's your own that can't wait to shoot you in the back and steal your living.

Balancing the Federal Budget is a Total Hoax and Failure of the so called Elected Officials. Because since the First Term of this Faux Administration, There has NOT been an Official Congressional Budget. It is totally riddled with Ear Marks, Kickbacks to Lobbyists, Political Campaign Contributors. Bolstered by Political
Hacks, Stooges and Their Boot Licking Lackies. Instead of a Bill in Committee dealing with the Sole Issue of a Bil, it is Riddled with useless Add on Wasteful Pretexts of Pork Belly Fat allocated to those Special Interest Groups who Whine or Scream the Loudest Back Home. Any Common Sense Attempts to put this nation back on track to serve the Millions of all Americans has been repeatedly scuttled by the Core Mensa Midgets who are self serving Elitist Socialpaths who hijacted the Old Democratic Party of JFK, turning it into a Progressive = Marxist Oz behind
the Curtain Political Whores primarily interested in their own abuse of power with their vested interest backers. Those behind the Curtain, remain same, while their superficial transparent controlled "elected officials" serve a few terms and are out. Only to be replaced by more of the same. Those in charge of committees just get shuffled between different posts playing along racking up their monopoly tokens while riding out the waves of democratic turmoil on the Ship of Fools...

I think the things that Mike Balog is saying here have a lot of value in offsetting the (too) oft-stated and rather nastily made (IMHO) viewpoints of the Liberal segment of posters here on Patch. Not that Balog and the Conservative clique is any more polite, sadly.
However, it all goes out the window for me when I find inaccuracy in statements of fact, no matter by whom.
For example, there is no city or town in Maine where the POPULATION comes anywhere near 100,000, leave alone the number of registered voters. The statement is so far out of likelihood anyway, and then made in such an offensive manner, that it renders any and all of his other "facts" very questionable.
How about providing documentation for all of your "facts", Mike. I think we all deserve it if we're being asked to read through and have faith in all of the information in your posts. Otherwise it looks like just another collection of rants.
My Maine population information(2010) is from "http://www.ask.com/wiki/Maine".

"However, it all goes out the window for me when I find inaccuracy in statements of fact, no matter by whom."
Agreed. That's why it's reasonable to expect a poster to provide links to sources. It lends credibility to the argument. It's one way to tell the information posted isn't just the poster's recollection of whatever a radio show host blathered into a microphone that day. No link, no cred.

Mike, It DOES all go out the window. You're kidding yourself if you think it doesn't. I read your post up to where it says " Info from Maine was sent down to me.".
I read no further because, as David V commented, "no link, no cred", and that goes for everything you say, once some of it is shown to be false. Even more so when you insist with a statement like that.
I see zero value in debating you so, as they say on Shark Tank, "I'm out".

Did Peter Burling miss the FIVE, FIVE, FIVE, FIVE, FIVE Sunday talk shows that Baraq sent Susan Rice out to, to LIE about Benghazi? But "what does it matter now", Baraq got re-elected, he didn't take any calls and got a good night's sleep on 9/11 while Americans were being killed as the Whitehouse telex rang with Benghazi embassy help requests; but Baraq was well rested for his Vegas campaign rally on 9/12. He knew what was important right Peter? And does Peter Burling know Geroge W. Bush is no longer president? When does the $16.5T debt become Baraq's fault?
Sonia Prince

All of a sudden you care about Benghazi? Where was all your concern for our men and women serving in embassies and consulates across the globe when all the other attacks and killings occurred under Bush? Like in 2002 when the US Consulate in the Karachi, Pakistan, was attacked and 10 were killed?
Or in 2004 when the US embassy in Uzbekistan was attacked and two were killed and another nine injured?
How about in 2004, when the US Consulate in Saudi Arabia was stormed and 8 lost their lives?
There is more: In 2006, armed men attacked the US Embassy in Syria and one was murdered.
Then in 2007 a grenade was thrown at the US Embassy in Athens.
In 2008, the US Embassy in Serbia was set on fire.
In 2008, bombings in the US Embassy in Yemen killed 10.
Notice the dates, all before the Obama administration.

Sonia Prince. The snarky name-calling author brought up the "Benghazi Express". Obama's lying and covering up to get through the election is pretty obvious now. I thought it was a valid point. "Bushes fault" is an argument I refuse to counter. And I dont believe Obama is the lowest spender since Eisenhower. In Obama's previous year a supposed one-time TARP bailout that inflated the federal baseline and the next president grows that and wants credit for being "lowest spender since Eisenhower".

Angry? Quite the contrary. I am happy and amused to sit back watch your immature and hypocrital "response" against posters of opposite opinions based on what they use as a moniker as last rebuttal in debate.
I also don't get "angry" if you or anyone else do not agree with me and would never go to the point of trying to silence posters with different opinions by taunting and bullying them for their choice of moniker use.
For all we know they may not be teenagers as some teenagers act like adults and some adults act like teenagers.
Ms. Prince the difference between my philosophy and yours, is quite simple.
If I don't like or agree with a poster, I respect their right to post it. I don't try to silence them by going after trivial things like thier monikers.
If you don't like or agree with a poster you will do anything, no matter how trivial to silence them .

Use the google.... One name is all you need for my husband. If you google me you'll find my campaign site and my FB page and you'll see his name. No one is hiding anything, no one is claiming anything...
And my final point... It doesn't matter Seamus... Atlant has his own opinions and I would never ever try to tell him what to think. He and I are individuals.
Look for you? We find TP Patriots... Do you reveal this? Who is your wife? What's car do you drive? See... Stupid questions... Just like your selective outrage.

I do not want to know everything about everyone else... I don't care what name anyone uses to post. I do find it inconsistent when someone chides others for not using their real name (monikers like "hilltopper" and "proud conservative") when their own husband uses just his first name...
I also believe that government officials should identify themselves as such when discussing political issues.
And this is not for my benefit. Think of the casual reader of the forums of the first time reader. They are not going to even think of using google to check to see if a poster is an elected official, a campaign manager, or the spouse of the elected official.
So, either we should go with full transparency or stop attacking those that use a moniker.
And as for me, Sonia, yes, I do live in NH. Amherst to be specific. Love living in NH. Never going back to MA...
