Tree Branch Falls on Vehicle, Injures Woman
The incident took place on Sunday.
A tree branch fell on a vehicle on Pelham Road this weekend, leading to a reported head injury for a 20-year-old woman, according to Salem Police and Fire.
Salem Fire Assistant Chief Paul Parisi said that the department received the call at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday that a large tree branch was covering both the road and the car. Wires were also brought down along with the branch.
The initial report came in to Salem Police at 93 Pelham Road, and it was indicated that the woman was entrapped in the vehicle with heavy bleeding to her head.
Parisi said that the woman was able to extricate herself from the vehicle. He did not have any additional details as to the extent of her injuries. She was transported to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass.
He added that two people were originally in the vehicle, but the other person was not hurt in the accident.
Parisi explained that the utility company was also contacted and they arrived at 12:10 p.m. He said that normally in that situation the utility workers will shut the power down to the area and then remove the branches from the lines.
