Three Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

One man and two women were found dead of gunshot wounds.

UPDATE, 5:38 p.m.: Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley spoke to media just before 5 p.m. this evening but could not offer much more information than had already been released by his office.

Hinckley said the investigation is ongoing and next of kin were still being notified. He didn't expect more information to be released tonight.

"Once we get more information, which we should tomorrow once the autopsies are performed, we should be able to provide that," Hinckley said.

According to Hinckley, the investigation is still in early stages. When asked if there were witnesses, he said all they had were the two deceased females and one deceased male "at this point."

He also could not give an idea about the ages of those deceased until the autopsies are performed.

EARLIER STORY: Three people are dead in an apparent murder suicide this afternoon in Salem, according to the attorney general's office.

Attorney General Michael A. Delaney issued a press release minutes ago saying that one adult male and two adult females are dead, all of apparent gunshot wounds. The identities of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family members. Autopsies have yet to be scheduled.

Delaney said the investigation is still ongoing, but there is no reason to believe that there is any danger to the public.

, with the possibility of multiple victims. Police have said very little about the incident.

Neighbors have said a couple lived in the home, but they did not have any children.
