Rollover Crash in Salem Among Storm Accidents

The heavy, wet snow is creating very hazardous road conditions.

It's only just started snowing, and emergency crews are already responding to multiple crashes due to slick roads across the state.

Around 6:30 a.m., a rollover crash was reported on Interstate 93 north in Salem, just prior to exit 2. No word yet on whether anyone was injured. Another accident was just reported minutes ago on Interstate 93 north in Concord between exits 12 and 13.

Around 7 a.m., police and fire were called to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury on Elwyn Road in Portsmouth in the area of the Forestry Center. No further details on the crash were immediately available. Another accident was reported about five minutes before that on Portsmouth Avenue in Greenland. And a 2-car accident with injury and entrapment was reported on Washington Street in Rochester around 7:15 a.m.

Accidents have also been reported on Interstate 293 south in Bedford, Route 13 in Brookline, Route 4 in Northwood, Route 4 in Epsom, Route 28 in Auburn, Route 28 in Alton, Dracut Road in Hudson, and Route 101 in Wilton

WCVB-TV in Boston is reporting that there was a 40-mile backup on I-93 from Derry to Boston this morning as a result of the poor road conditions. The speed limit on the highway has been reduced to 45 miles per hour, but traffic is barely inching along at this hour.

The Eagle-Tribune's John Toole just tweeted that spinouts at the Exit 4 ramp in Londonderry off I-93 are causing traffic to back up on the highway.

Police are advising motorists to use caution on the roads, as the heavy, wet snow has caused very hazardous road conditions, especially at hills and intersections.

Please people!!! Just because you own a truck or SUV doesn't mean your safe for any weather condition. Drive carefully and beware that others are in the road as well.

These accidents wouldn't happen if the sanders and salters had come out early enough. The roads in NH were awful. Didn't you know ahead of time that a storm was coming?

Not a fan of school delays, but today would have been the ideal day to call one. I was very surprised by the poor road conditions this morning.

I agree, a delay would have been a good idea. Watch now and they will probably have an early release. Still haven't seen a snow plow on my street yet @9:45am.

Given the lack of snow this season, you'd think the snow removal would have been approached a bit more proactively.

I suspect they have done away with calling in crews early to save on the over time. My road got plowed at 10:20am but it is still very icy and I hope they come back to sand it. Just glad this is a day where I don't have to go anywhere.
