Salem Man Indicted For Child Porn

Troy Glen Thompson, 67, faces one felony indictment for possession of child sex abuse images.

A Salem man was recently indicted by the Rockingham County Superior Court grand jury on a felony count of possession of child sex abuse images.

Troy Glen Thompson, 67, of Mascoma Road in Salem, was arrested in June on the charge. His home had been searched by police in January at which time they seized computers and other items, including a firearm.

According to court documents, Thompson is alleged to have possessed "a visual representation...showing a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct."

The investigation into Thompson began in late 2011 for "sharing child sexual abuse images and videos in Salem," according to police. Their investigation was a cooperative effort between Salem Police and the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Nashua detectives were also involved in the investigation, police said.

Police said a search warrant was issued in January executed by the investigating agencies and "numerous computers and media were seized from Thompson’s residence."

Authorities spent months "forensically evaluating the evidence" which led to the charge and police said additional charges may be forthcoming.

Police said Thompson was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; rather, it means a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
