Salem Man Brings Gun In and Out of House Anteroom

The resident was undisturbed as he entered and left the Statehouse.

The Union Leader reported on Thursday that a Salem man participating in the Second Amendment rally in Concord was able to wander in and out of the House anteroom with a holstered gun.

The man identified himself to the paper as Brad Winslow. The rule prohibiting deadly weapons from areas in and around the Statehouse includes the House Chamber, House gallery, anterooms and cloakrooms.

The New Hampshire House voted to ban guns Jan. 2, re-instituting a rule that had been lifted in the last legislative session. The rule change, the first sentence of which was contested, reads in part that no person, including "members of the House, except law enforcement officers while actively engaged in carrying out their duties as such, shall carry or have in possession any deadly weapon as defined in RSA 625:11, V..." in the House chamber, anteroom, cloak room and gallery.
