Salem Man Brings Gun In and Out of House Anteroom

The resident was undisturbed as he entered and left the Statehouse.

The Union Leader reported on Thursday that a Salem man participating in the Second Amendment rally in Concord was able to wander in and out of the House anteroom with a holstered gun.

The man identified himself to the paper as Brad Winslow. The rule prohibiting deadly weapons from areas in and around the Statehouse includes the House Chamber, House gallery, anterooms and cloakrooms.

The New Hampshire House voted to ban guns Jan. 2, re-instituting a rule that had been lifted in the last legislative session. The rule change, the first sentence of which was contested, reads in part that no person, including "members of the House, except law enforcement officers while actively engaged in carrying out their duties as such, shall carry or have in possession any deadly weapon as defined in RSA 625:11, V..." in the House chamber, anteroom, cloak room and gallery.

On Thursday, hundreds of gun owners took to the steps of the Statehouse to rally for preservation of personal liberty and the right to keep and bear arms.

The event was put together by the Rochester 9/12 liberty group Granite State Patriots.

Not that I believe in having an armed officer at every school is going to stop all shooting attempts, I wanted to get this story out. It probably will not be widely broadcast.

ATLANTA — A student opened fire at his middle school Thursday afternoon, wounding a 14-year-old in the neck before an armed officer working at the school was able to get the gun away, police said.

Article 2a of the New Hampshire Constituion is quite clear. There were more than a couple who carried in and out of the statehouse legally. They cannot legislate away Constituionally-protected rights. It is called an "Ammendment" and must be done in a specific fashion to be legal. Unfortunately, too many people are afraid of the government when it should always remain the other way around. They are not any more above the law than we are.
