Officials Respond to Fire on Wells Avenue
The incident was reported just before 1 p.m.
A New Year's Day structure fire was reported last hour with heavy smoke upon the arrival of Salem Fire officials.
The fire broke out at 15 Wells Avenue, which is listed as a small one bedroom home near North Main Street.
National Grid was also called to the scene, and the blaze was reportedly knocked down just after 1 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this hour.
