OBITUARY: Charles Edward Wheaton Sr.
He died on Monday at the age of 85.

Charles Edward Wheaton, Sr., 85 of Salem, NH died Monday February 11, 2013 at Salem Haven Nursing Home of Salem, NH. He was born February 3, 1928 in Attleboro, MA and was a son of the late Wallace H. and Margaret (Goodman) Wheaton. Mr. Wheaton had resided most of his life in Watertown, MA and had lived in Derry for 2 years prior to relocating to Salem in 2009.
Mr. Wheaton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country in WWII and the Korean War. He was employed as a heating and ventilation engineer at Mt. Auburn Hospital for over 30 years and at MIT for 10 years, prior to his retirement. He was a former member of VFW Post 1105 of Watertown.
Members of the family include two sons, Charles E. Wheaton, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Salem, MA, and Michael J. Wheaton of Taunton, MA. Three step-grandchildren, Jessica Poirier, Amanda Kennedy and David Kennedy, three step-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday February 13, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A graveside committal with Military Honors will be held Thursday February 14, at 2 pm at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 100 Route 3 North, Boscawen, NH.
