Five Things: Storm Causes Dozens of Crashes
Also, registration is available for a 6-week karate session at Salem Kenpo Academy.
1. TODAY'S FORECAST: This afternoon will have a very different look than yesterday's storm with partly cloudy skies and a high of 41. Tonight could get chilly with cloudy skies and a low of 13.
2. STORM CAUSES DOZENS OF CRASHES: State police reported that yesterday's storm caused 67 vehicle crashes and 65 vehicles off the road, with a high volume of those coming on the various New Hampshire highways. See more on Nashua Patch.
3. SIGN UP FOR KARATE: While the first town-sponsored karate program is currently underway this month, you can still sign up for a second 6-week program set to take place between Feb. 15 and March 22.
The fee is $40, $50 for non-residents, and the program takes place on Friday's from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Salem Kenpo Academy on 326 S. Broadway. Contact the Recreation Department for details.
4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1950, 11 men steal more than $2 million from the Brinks Armored Car depot in Boston, Massachusetts. It was the perfect crime--almost--as the culprits weren't caught until January 1956, just days before the statute of limitations for the theft expired.
5. BOEING 787 GROUNDED: The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered all Boeing 787 Dreamliners to be grounded after a series of battery and fuel system failures. Learn more here.
