Good morning, Salem! Here are five things you need to know today, Wednesday, Nov. 28:

1. STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING: A Strategic Planning Committee meeting about the future direction of the Salem School District will be held Dec. 4 at Salem High School. More information on attending is available here.

2. HOLIDAY FIRE SAFETY: On the town website, the Salem Fire Department posted a link to this informtaion regarding safety for Christmas trees and for the holidays in general. Review this before setting up your tree.

3. DECK THE HOUSESalem Patch's "Deck the House" contest is back! You could win $100,000 for Salem schools if you've got the best Christmas decorations on the block. Enter today!

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORYOn this day in 1582, William Shakespeare, 18, and Anne Hathaway, 26, pay a 40-pound bond for their marriage license in Stratford-upon-Avon. Six months later, Anne gives birth to their daughter, Susanna, and two years later, to twins. Information courtesy of History.com.
