Five Things; Candidates Night at SHS

1. TODAY'S FORECAST: Partly cloudy skies and a high of 34 will make way for a low of 25 and more partly cloudy skies tonight.

2. CANDIDATES NIGHT: The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce hosts candidates night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will take place at the Salem High School television studio.

3. PS4 UNVEILED: The next generation console Playstation 4 has officially been unveiled, giving Sony the jump on Microsoft, which plans to name its successor to Xbox 360 soon.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: In New York City, Malcolm X, an African American nationalist and religious leader, is assassinated by rival Black Muslims while addressing his Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in Washington Heights.

5. DAN BROWN RETURNS: Popular author and Exeter, N.H. native Dan Brown will release a new novel this May called "Inferno." The book will be the fourth adventure in the Robert Langdon saga.

I overheard Candidate Wells say that he was glad there were several candidates because that meant their was less time he could be on the hot seat in a forum like this. So much for wanting to get your message out there!

Just after the launch of our Windham Patch site in 2011, I wrote a couple of stories on the NH Teacher of the Year, Bethany Bernasconi. She is a biology teacher at Windham High School. At that time, the Sudbury, Mass. editor picked up those articles for his website because Bernasconi is a former educator at Lincoln-Sudbury. That is the reason I am linked to that page.
