Salem GOP to learn about ballot issues.
Selectman Everett McBride will highlight spending items:
Selectman Everett McBride will give an overview of the town warrant at the regular meeting of the Salem Republican Town Committee on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Kelley Library at 7:00 p.m.
After over a hundred years of town meetings, Salem voters last year chose to adopt a new form of budget approval, the official ballot or “Senate Bill 2” process. Instead of having spending decisions made by a few hundred people sitting in an auditorium all day, the thousands who go to the polls for the March 12 local election will have the opportunity not only to choose town officials, but also to vote on the annual budget.
Selectman McBride will elaborate on the various articles on the warrant as amended by the deliberative session held on February 2, as well as the default budget.
The Salem Republican Town Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Kelley Library. All are welcome. More information is available at www. SalemNHGOP.com.

That has to be the poorest written press release i've ever seen.
Senate Bill 2 isn't doing Salem any favors.

It's called democracy. We go to the polls, and vote. Rather than vote one way, and have a handful of idiots who have nothing to do on a Saturday morning turn our votes around.

@JGONH: Actually having been to many Saturday mornings I don't recall seeing any "idiots", just Citizens concerned about their town enough to get their sorry "arse" out of bed and be involved in the process. Sorry you missed those mornings!

Riley you shouldn't have to vote on something TWICE. The majority votes on an issue on election day. It should be DONE WITH. Those same people shouldn't have to then go to the high school and vote again to make sure the outcome isn't different. What was happening is a small majority (of usually elderly or special interest folks) were reversing votes on important issues.

JGONH. No one voted twice. There was a bond measure for roads on the ballot that was defeated. No one came back to town meeting and voted on that again. There was also a warrant article at town meeting to repair some roads. Enough citizens felt strongly about road conditions to amend the warrant article so that it include two of the roads that would have been covered under the bond. Only this time it was for cash. You can complain all you want but these were two different warrants.
